The specialization begins with a foundational course that considers alternative approaches to managing human resources, provides a background to the Kenya  legal context in which employees are hired, fired, rewarded, and managed, and outlines the different reasons that people are motivated to work.

Entrepreneurship

How does a good idea become a viable business opportunity? What is entrepreneurship and who fits the profile of an entrepreneur? This introductory course is designed to introduce you to the foundational concepts of entrepreneurship, including the definition of entrepreneurship, the profile of the entrepreneur, the difference between entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial management, and the role of venture creation in society. You’ll explore where technology entrepreneurship and impact entrepreneurship align and where they diverge, and you’ll learn proven techniques for identifying the opportunity, assessing the opportunity, hypothesis testing and creating a prototype. By the end of this course, you’ll know how to test, validate and prototype your idea, and also whether or not you fit the profile of an entrepreneur!

ISO 27001:2013

ISO27001:2013 is an ISO approved standard that enables an organization to implement and certify Information Security Management System (ISMS). The objective of this course is to prepare you in becoming an ISO 27001:20013 Implementer.

The course has been designed for those wishing to:

  •  To understand the fundamental concept of ISMS auditing
  •  Become Internal ISMS Implementer
  •  Extend and develop their previous knowledge of quality, systems and auditing skills

Risk Management

Cybersecurity is an essential business skill for the evolving workplace. For-profit companies, government agencies, and not-for-profit organizations all need technologically proficient, business-savvy information technology security professionals. In this Specialization, you will learn about a variety of processes for protecting business assets through policy, education and training, and technology best practices. You’ll develop an awareness of the risks and cyber threats or attacks associated with modern information usage, and explore key technical and managerial topics required for a balanced approach to information protection. Topics will include mobility, the Internet of Things, the human factor, governance and management practices.
